Donnacha O’Donovan has over 20 years’ experience of commercial and civil litigation. He is the senior litigation partner in the firm and is principally based in the firm’s Dublin office.
Donnacha advises and represents institutional clients, banking clients and companies (both overseas multinationals and SMEs) in a wide range of contentious matters. His portfolio of work includes complex and high value disputes litigated through the Commercial and Chancery Lists of the High Court or resolved through ADR including mediation and arbitration.
In particular, Donnacha has extensive experience of representing financial institutions, including one of Ireland’s pillar banks, in a broad range of matters including advising on and representing his clients in defending actions against them. He also advises in the area of personal insolvency and bankruptcy
He was one of the litigators on the team of G J Moloney solicitors who represented Horizon Sports Management in the litigation against it by Rory McIlroy and the bringing of the agency’s counterclaim against the golfer.
Donnacha also represented the petitioning creditor in the case of ACC Bank –v- McCann where the Irish High Court accepted the petitioner’s application that the Court should refuse to recognize, on public policy grounds an order adjudicating an individual to be a bankrupt which had been made in another European jurisdiction.
