Service of Proceedings by Email

Changes to Superior Court Rules

The Rules have been amended to facilitate service of proceedings by registered post, with certain exceptions, and to enable parties to indicate their willingness to receive documents in the proceedings by email. Changes to the Rules of the Superior Courts on service of proceedings & entering appearance take effect from 27 November 2017.

These changes have been introduced by S.I. No. 475 of 2017.   The changes allow solicitors indicate on the Memorandum of Appearance that, in place of the firm’s registered office being identified as the place for service, the firm will accept service of pleading by email.
